A house of biological
and integrative dentistry.
Founded 2014 in Milan by Lucia Marchetti and Daniil Vlasov. One examining room, six disciplines, forty-eight new patients a year.
MMXIV
Lucia Marchetti and Daniil Vlasov met in 2011, at a four-day biological dentistry seminar held at the IAOMT’s annual meeting in Vienna. Lucia had been practising periodontal medicine in Milan for nine years; Daniil had been placing titanium implants in Prague for twelve. Both had arrived at the seminar privately uncertain about the materials they had been working with for most of their careers.
Three years later, after Lucia had retrained in biological restoration and Daniil had completed his ceramic implantology accreditation in Zurich, they opened the practice together on Via San Damiano. The first patient was a colleague of Lucia’s who had been quietly waiting for them to do it.
The practice has never advertised. Every patient since the first has come through introduction.
The structure has held. One examining room, two principals, four associates, forty-eight new patients a year. The waiting list now runs to nineteen months.
On the practice of evidence-based biological dentistry
Biological dentistry is sometimes confused, in the public conversation, with the wellness-influencer adjacent practices that have appropriated some of its language. We work to distinguish the two by adhering to the discipline as it is actually practised — through the protocols of the IAOMT and IABDM, through peer-reviewed journals (the Journal of Biological Dentistry and the Journal of Oral Implantology), and through the same evidentiary standards that apply to any branch of medicine.
The practice is accredited at both the IAOMT (Lucia, since 2009) and the IABDM (Daniil, since 2012). We attend the annual scientific meetings of both organisations. We do not endorse practices that fall outside their published consensus.
What separates this discipline from conventional dentistry is not what we believe, but what we measure. The materials in your mouth are measured for biocompatibility. The inflammation in your gums is measured as a systemic marker. The structure of your bite is measured as an airway and craniofacial signal. The mouth is treated as an instrument with readings, not a region with services.

The practice occupies the second floor of a 1908 building on Via San Damiano, between the Brera and Porta Venezia districts. The space was previously a private dermatology clinic; we kept the original parquet, the operating room’s original north-facing windows, and the apothecary cabinets in the entrance hallway. The examining room itself is twenty-four square metres, with a single chair. We do not run two chairs in parallel.

Forty-eight, by intention.
The practice accepts forty-eight new patients a year. The number is arithmetic, not aspiration. Two principals, working at the depth this discipline requires, can take on roughly four new patients between them each month — and only because the existing roster has been built over twelve years.
Patients who join Marchetti & Vlasov tend to remain. Our oldest patient relationships are now in their twelfth year. The practice grows slowly, by attrition rather than acquisition, and we like it that way.
The waiting list at present runs to nineteen months. We accept applications continuously, review them in cohorts of four, and respond personally to each — whether or not we are able to take you on. We treat the application as the first piece of clinical correspondence between us.

Where the practice meets the wider field
IAOMT
International Academy of Oral Medicine and ToxicologyLucia has held accreditation since 2009. The practice works to IAOMT’s published protocols for material biocompatibility, mercury removal (SMART), and biological restoration.
IABDM
International Academy of Biological Dentistry and MedicineDaniil has held a fellowship since 2012. We co-host an annual seminar in Milan with IABDM Europe on ceramic implantology.
Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele
Visiting lecturer · Biological dentistry seminarLucia has lectured in San Raffaele’s biological dentistry seminar series since 2018. The seminar runs annually as part of the dental school’s continuing education curriculum.
Quintessence Publishing
Co-authored clinical textDaniil co-authored Ceramic Implants in Clinical Practice, published by Quintessence in 2021. The text is now in its second edition and used in implantology training programmes in five countries.
The practice is registered with the Ordine dei Medici Chirurghi e degli Odontoiatri di Milano. Both principals hold current Italian and EU dental licences.
